Children's Book Author Gail Gibbons
by Bree

Do you know what my favorite non-fiction author is? Her name is Gail Gibbons. She does not write fiction. She writes non-fiction. She has written and illustrated, over 100 books.
She was born on August 1, 1944 in Oak Park Illinois. Mrs. Gibbons decided to write books because she was working on a PBS children's show. Her husband told her she should write non-fiction books for kids. By the way, Gail Gibbons got married in 1966. When she was a kid she thought non-fiction was boring becaues they always took pictures with cameras. When she grew up she wrote non-fiction but she drew her own pictures. In 1970 Gail Gibbons and her husband moved to New York City. Two yeas later in 1972 Gail Gibbons husband died in an accident.
Gail Gibbons is still alive writing cool books. She lives in Corinth, Vermont and you might be lucky to see her there. If not, like me when I see one of her books at the bookstore, you can buy it and think of her!
