Like father, like son, that is what most would say about J. Brian Pinkney, but actually Brian says he became an author because he like to play the drums. So who is Brian Pinkney? Is he a famous drummer? No, he is a really cool author and illustrator of children's books.

Brian was born on August 28, 1961 in Boston, Massachusetts. Brian's father is an artist and author too! J. Pinkney has written and/or illustrated more than 20 books. His most famous book and my personal favorite is Happy Birthday Martin Luther King. Brian Pinkney is mostly an illustrator. Now he works with his wife. She writes and he does the illustrations. They make a great team!
