Allen Say
by Alexia
If you like books about Japan or children, than read Allen Say. Allen Say was born August 28, 1937. When he was a child, it was WW II. Allen Say moved houses and schools . He had to fight bullies. He escaped into reading and drawing. He moved to his grandma’s. His grandma didn’t like him. She sent him away to an apartment. He was 12. Every year she sent money to him. He asked a famous artist to teach him. He lived with him. He moved again. This time he moved to the US. He became an author and illustrator. He was 50 when he started writing books for children. He has written 20 books or more. He has gone through a lot in his life. Now, he is very old. My favorite book is The Bicycle Man. You should read that too!

Alexia,
Your Kamishubai theater was delightful! I really enjoyed the way you told the story. I also liked the water colors that you painted. Your report was well written and I can tell you learned a lot about your author and Japanese storytelling.
