Paul Goble

by Price

All little boys have played cowboys and Indians, but Paul Goble really wanted to be an Indian.  He was born in England, so in order to learn more about Native Americans he moved to the U.S.  In the U.S. he was able to learn all about Native American culture.  He used what he learned to make beautiful paintings.  One day he noticed that many of the Native  American children were forgetting their culture and stories.  So he used his ability to paint to make a book for children.  The book was called Red Hawk's Account of Custer's Last Battle.  Later he wrote his most famous book Buffalo Woman.  He won the Caldecott Award for it.  My favorite book by Paul Goble is Mystic Horse.  Paul Goble has written 40 or more books.  If you love Native Americans, horses or the West, you will love books by Paul Goble.
