Norman Bridwell

Everyone knows who Clifford the Big Red Dog is, but do you know who Norman Bridwell is? He is the person behind Clifford the Big Red Dog. 

Clifford all began with a sample painting no one wanted.  One publisher said the picture with the little girl and the big dog,"maybe a story."  So he went home, used his imagination and Clifford and Emily Elizabeth were born. 

Norman Bridwell was born in Kokomo, Indiana Febuary 15,1928.  In school his art wasn't noticed but he kept trying because he really liked art.  He became a commercial artist.  Now his message to children is, "If they feel like doing something creative- if they like to make up stories or if they like to draw THEN DO IT!"

Some of his books are titled, Tiny Family, The Witch Goes To School, and Clifford the Big Red Dog. My favorite is The Witch Goes to School. I you like big ideas and big dogs, then you will like reading Norman Bridwell's stories.
