Denise Fleming
By Alyssa
Did you know that a book can start with a tub full of soft colored mush? Well if you are Denise Fleming a book can even start with old scraps of paper. Denise Fleming is an author and illustrator who uses a paper making process called "pulp painting."
All this talent began on January 31, 1950 in Toledo, Ohio. As a little kid she really liked art class. Some of her books are Pumpkin Eye, The Everything Book and Lunch. My favorite book is Lunch . It is about a mouse that is very hungry. I also really like her book called Mama Cat Has Three Kittens. She won a Caldecott for her book In the Small, Small Pond. So, she is best known for her illustrations. Her books don't have too many words, but she starts out with 100 words. She changes them until her story is just right.
When you are in the library, you can't miss the illustrations by Denise Fleming. They are colorful and bold. SO, check one out today!
