   Mercer Mayer was born on December 30, 1943 in Little Rock, Arkansas. As a young boy Mercer loved to draw. He moved to New York City in 1964 to become a writer. He has written alot of books but his most famous books are the Little Critter Series. This series is about a furry creature in first grade. Mercer's first book was A Boy, A Dog, and a Frog. It was published in 1967. His other famous series is called Little Monsters. Many of the ideas he gets for his stories come from his childhood.

   My favorite book by Mercer Mayer is I Was Just So Mad. I liked this story because Little Critter makes funny faces. So, if you are looking for a book with the coolest critters, look for Mercer Mayer.
